We are taking a look back at some of the best Home Nations Commonwealth moments and today we are looking at when Emily Campbell won Bronze for England at the Gold Coast in 2018
Campbell Snatched 103kg and then Clean &Jerked 139kg for total of 242kg to finish 1kg behind silver medallist Charisma Amoe-Tarrant of Nauru.
Feagaiga Stowers won Gold for Samoa with a total of 253kg.
Campbell managed to record four out of six clean lifts throughout the event. She missed her first Snatch of 99kg, but recovered on the second attempt and then hit a further 103kg on her third attempt.
It was a similar story in the Clean &Jerk section as Campbell missed her opener of 129kg but followed up on the same weight before making an incredible 10kg jump to successfully lift 139kg.
New Zealand’s Laurel Hubbard was the favourite going into the event but was forced to withdraw due to an elbow injury during the Snatch.
"I started Weightlifting just two years ago and I am over the moon that it has brought me here," said Campbellafter the event.
"This is just the beginning for me and I believe the future has excellent things in store for me."
Asked about Hubbard's withdrawal, Campbell added: "I hope she is all right.
"I really hope people can be more mindful when passing remarks about her, as she is only doing what we all love doing - lifting."
